Linking BPMN, ArchiMate, and BWW: Perfect Match for Complete and Lawful Business Process Models?
نویسنده
چکیده
Enterprise architecture (EA) models are helpful for describing elements that are necessary for modelling business processes at different architectural layers of the enterprise. Business process models are used to describe detailed enterprise processes in order to analyse and improve them. Business process logic provided in the business layer of EA is very abstract comparing with business process models. Therefore EA models and business process models must be linked to address in detail both structural and behavioural aspects of the information system. However linked EA and business process models do not imply that the models provide complete and lawful descriptions of the information system. The paper uses a theoretical foundation of Bunge-Wand-Weber system’s model and evaluates how industry standards BPMN and ArchiMate contribute to creation of complete and lawful business process models.

Towards Compliance Checking between Business Process Models and Lawful States of Objects
We address the existing gap between business process models and lawful states of business objects. This gap hinders compliance of business process models with internally and externally imposed regulations. Existing modelling methods such as BPMN and ArchiMate lack an explicitly declarative approach for capturing flow of business objects, their states and laws of state transitions. Such deficien...

The doctoral thesis addresses the existing gap between business process models and states of business objects. Existing modelling methods such as BPMN and ArchiMate lack an explicitly declarative approach for capturing states of business objects and laws of state transitions. This gap hinders the compliance of business process models with regulations imposed internally or externally, and can re...
متن کاملOntology matching techniques for enterprise architecture models
Current Enterprise Architecture (EA) approaches tend to be generic, based on broad meta-models that cross-cut distinct architectural domains. Integrating these models is necessary to an effective EA process, in order to support, for example, benchmarking of business processes or assessing compliance to structured requirements. However, the integration of EA models faces challenges stemming from...
متن کاملModeling languages for business processes and business rules: A representational analysis
Process modeling and rule modeling languages are both used to document organizational policies and procedures. To date, their synergies and overlap are underresearched. Understanding the relationship between the two modeling types would allow organizations to maximize synergies, avoid content duplication, and thus reduce their overall modeling effort. In this paper, we use the Bunge–Wand–Weber ...
متن کاملAn Analytical Evaluation of BPMN Using a Semiotic Quality Framework
Evaluation of modelling languages is important both to be able to select the most suitable languages according to the needs, and to improve existing languages. In this paper Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) is presented and analytically evaluated according to the Semiotic Quality Framework. BPMN is a functionally oriented language well suited for modeling within the domain of business ...
